Some exciting trucks are coming out in 2019. Both Chevy and Ford have announced diesel engines in their lineup. Ram has yet to announce if they are going to put a diesel in their upcoming 1500 Silverado. Here is what we do know about the trucks that are coming out.

The Chevy 1500 Silverado

For the first time, Chevy half-ton Silverado buyers will get a 3.0L Duramax inline six-cylinder engine option; just one among the six engine/transmission choices available when the 2019 Chevy hits showroom floors. The 2019 will be 450lbs lighter than the current Silverado thanks to aluminum doors, hood and tailgate. However, Chevy is keeping their strong steel bed and frame to maximize stability and durability.

Performance numbers are still to come, but given the competitive environment among the big three diesel auto manufacturers, you can bet they’ll be impressive.

The Ford Ranger Raptor

The new Ford Ranger Raptor boasts a 2.0-litre turbodiesel under the hood. This Raptor puts out 369lb-ft of torque. It’s a twin-turbo that uses a high-pressure turbocharger working with a large, low-pressure turbo to push out extra power.

Ford has upped their game with off-road specs. This truck comes equipped with Fox Racing Shox and runs on 17-inch wheels with BF Goodrich all-terrain tires. The brakes feature larger diameter pistons in the calipers and 332mm vented rotors on the front axle with the same size rotors on the back. Although this is currently Britain’s best-selling pick-up, it’s not yet definitely scheduled for release in the U.S., but don’t worry, ford UK is working on getting the truck sold in the U.S. as well.
Overall, we are excited to see 2019’s diesel line-up in action. Here are some videos you can check out.
