DIVERT A SMALL PORTION
A controlled portion of circulating coolant moves through the separate filter circuit.
Casting sand, rust, and other debris can accumulate inside your Ram's heater core. A clogged core can mean weak cabin heat—and a repair that may require major dashboard disassembly.
The Sinister Diesel coolant filtration kit helps capture circulating contaminants before buildup becomes an expensive problem.
ACTUAL CLOGGED HEATER CORE
Heater cores rely on coolant flowing through narrow internal passages to warm your truck's cabin. Over time, particles such as casting sand, rust, and cooling-system deposits can build up and restrict that flow.
Particulate contamination continues circulating through the cooling system.
Accumulated material can reduce coolant flow and cabin heating performance.
On some Ram applications, heater-core replacement requires extensive dash disassembly.
The Sinister Diesel coolant filtration system uses a bypass filter to capture suspended particles over time without placing the filter directly in the engine's main coolant flow path.

The replaceable spin-on filter collects contaminants such as casting sand, rust, and suspended debris.
Filtered coolant returns to the system while the primary cooling circuit continues operating.

Every Sinister Diesel Cummins coolant filtration kit is built around a durable filter assembly, reinforced hoses, and application-specific installation hardware. A serviceable filter helps remove circulating particulate contamination before it can accumulate in sensitive cooling passages.
INSTALLED ON A RAM CUMMINSNew filters may collect significant debris early on. Keep up with service so the system continues removing contaminants. Check the instructions for the specific kit you purchase.
Answers to the questions Ram owners ask about heater cores, bypass filtration, and installation.
NEED MORE HELP? CONTACT OUR TEAM →No. Filtration helps capture suspended debris and reduce additional buildup, but it does not dissolve deposits or open an already blocked heater core. If you have little or no cabin heat, diagnose the cooling and HVAC systems first.
Restricted heater-core flow is one possible cause. Low coolant, air in the system, thermostat problems, and HVAC blend-door issues can also reduce heat. Confirm the cause before replacing parts.
The Sinister Diesel system uses a bypass filtration circuit to filter a portion of coolant at a time rather than placing a filter in series with the main cooling path. Correct installation and maintenance remain important.
Our standard schedule is the first filter at 500 miles, the second after approximately 1,500 additional miles, the third after approximately 3,000 additional miles, and then at every oil change. Check the instructions for your specific kit.
Not always. Some aftermarket intake systems can interfere with the filter mounting area. The kit is compatible with the factory intake and Sinister Diesel intake on specified applications. Verify clearance and model-specific installation notes before ordering.
