To prevent expensive cylinder head damage and head gasket failure, be sure to add ARP head studs when upgrading or rebuilding the Duramax diesel V-8 in your 2001 to 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra heavy-duty trucks. ARP head studs are a favorite among professional diesel engine builders with a design that offers superior tensile strength and reliability compared to factory head bolts. Unlike the factory head bolts, ARP head studs have greater strength and are less likely to fail. ARP uses a premium grade 8740 alloy and a proprietary ARP2000 alloy, and heat treats the head studs to high-psi to ensure that these studs won’t stretch, bend or break under the high pressure delivered by today’s high-output diesel engines. As added protection against fatigue, ARP head studs have the threads rolled after heat treating giving the studs 20-times better fatigue strength than other head studs on the market. This kit includes centerless-ground head studs, chrome moly steel 12-point nuts, parallel-ground washers and ARP Ultra-Torque Fastener Assembly Lubricant, and it is designed for use on Duramax engines with engine codes LML, LMM, LBZ, LLY, and LB7.
