Product Overview
The 6.0L Powerstroke relies heavily on clean engine oil, so additional filtration is a worthwhile upgrade for owners who want to reduce fine contamination circulating through the engine.
The Sinister Diesel Bypass Oil Filtration System works alongside the factory oil filtration system to provide an additional level of filtration. Instead of replacing the primary filter, the bypass system continuously routes a small amount of engine oil through an AMSOIL 2-micron filter that captures much finer particles.
Fine soot, dirt, metal particles, and other contaminants can remain suspended in engine oil and contribute to wear over time. By continually removing these smaller contaminants, the bypass system helps keep the engine oil cleaner between services and reduces the amount of abrasive material circulating through critical engine components.
This updated design is also compatible with our current round-style Sinister Diesel coolant filter head, making it easier to run both coolant and bypass oil filtration on the same truck.
The system is built around a CNC-machined billet aluminum filter block, billet oil cap, and billet oil filter cap, all finished in signature Sinister Blue. Braided stainless steel lines and a solid steel mounting bracket complete the system for a durable, clean installation.
The included billet oil filter cap is a direct replacement for the factory cap and is designed specifically for use with a factory-height primary oil filter. Taller aftermarket primary oil filters are not compatible and are not recommended for this application.

Q: Will this work with a Sinister Diesel Coolant Filtration System?
A: Yes. The updated design works with our current round-style Sinister Diesel coolant filter head.
Q: What if I have the older Sinister Diesel tombstone-style coolant filter head?
A: The standard bracket included with this updated kit will not work with the older tombstone-style filter head. Contact Sinister Diesel and we can provide the correct bracket needed for that application.
Q: Does this replace my factory oil filter?
A: No. This bypass filtration system works alongside the factory primary oil filter. A small amount of oil is routed through the 2-micron bypass filter while the factory lubrication and filtration system continues to operate normally.
Q: Why use a 2-micron bypass oil filter?
A: The finer filtration helps capture small soot, dirt, metal particles, and other contaminants that may pass through the primary oil filter, helping keep the engine oil cleaner.
Q: Can I use a taller aftermarket primary oil filter?
A: No. The Sinister Diesel billet oil filter cap is designed to work with the stock-height 6.0L Powerstroke oil filter. Taller aftermarket filters are not compatible.
Q: Will this work with a Banks hot-side charge pipe?
A: Clearance issues may occur with Banks hot-side charge pipes. Verify clearance before ordering or contact Sinister Diesel if you are unsure about your configuration.
Q: Does this fit a 6.0L Powerstroke E-Series van?
A: No. This kit is designed for 2003–2007 Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450 6.0L Powerstroke applications and does not fit E-Series vans.
