The factory 6.0L Powerstroke EGR cooler is one of the most common failure points on the engine. Over time, the factory cooler's internal brazed joints can crack and fail, allowing coolant to enter the exhaust stream and intake system.
When this occurs, coolant can make its way into the combustion chamber, potentially leading to white smoke, coolant loss, overheating concerns, head gasket failure, or even catastrophic engine damage. Repair costs can quickly escalate into thousands of dollars.
