What is the Sinister Diesel Severe Duty Kit

by Hugh Jackson • August 19, 2024

The 6.7L Powerstroke has been one of the best Powerstroke engines ever made. Every every generational revision making it make powerful and more reliable. However, that doesn't mean it doesn't have its shortcomings. For over a decade, Ford has continued to use a plastic charge pipe that is inadequate for holding boost. For over a decade they manufactured Fuel Filter housings that have been known to crack and leak fuel, potentially leading to engine fires. Sinister Diesel has decided to release their "Severe Duty Kit", which is designed to help fill in the gaps that Ford left behind. Learn why this kit is necessary on all 6.7 Powerstroke

What is wrong with the 6.7 Powerstroke Cold Side Charge Pipe?

The goal of the severe duty kit was to put emphasis on parts that unless changed, can cause severe damage. The Cold Side Charge Pipe is one of the most well known problems on the 6.7 Powerstroke. Overtime as the materials becomes more brittle, the plastic charge pipe eventually bursts causing a massive boost leak. This can easily lead to someone being left on the side of the road. In our opinion, not only is the All Aluminum charge pipe a recommendation, it is a necessity.

What is wrong with the 6.7 Powerstroke Fuel Filter Housing?

The 6.7 Powerstroke OEM Fuel Filter housing has been known to crack and leak fuel everywhere. This can easily lead to an engine bay fire or worse. Once the OEM Fuel Filter housing cracks, you're truck is out of commission. We recommend to all of our customers that they upgrade to our all-aluminum fuel filter housing, designed to last the life of the truck without any leaks or issues

Is a Coolant Filtration Kit Worth it?

For Ford F250 owners looking to extend the life and reliability of their trucks, we strongly recommend installing a Coolant Filtration System. This essential upgrade is a small investment—costing less than $250 and requiring just about an hour of your time—but it delivers substantial long-term benefits. By filtering out harmful contaminants from your coolant, this system helps protect vital engine components, including the EGR system, water pumps, and seals, from premature wear and damage.

Contaminated coolant can wreak havoc on these parts, especially in newer diesel trucks like the Ford F250, leading to costly repairs and potential downtime. Installing a coolant filtration system is a proactive measure that ensures your engine runs smoothly and efficiently, providing you with the peace of mind that your truck is well-protected. There’s truly no downside to this upgrade—just improved performance, increased durability, and a truck that’s always ready for the road ahead.
